Champion trainer Chris Waller no longer has the Cox Plate favourite, but punters are carving up two of his runners.
Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au reports that Waller’s top two fancies Kermadec ($6.00) and Winx ($7.00) are the best supported. Criterion tightened from $12 into $5.00 favourite after his win in Saturday’s Caulfield Stakes.
The widely travelled Criterion was also a big Melbourne Cup firmer, halving his quote to $17. Fame Game ($7.50) heads Cup betting over the Waller trained Preferment ($9.00).
“Criterion scored a nice win on the weekend and knocked Kermadec from Plate favouritism. That hasn’t stopped punters though, Kermadec is very well backed and Winx is almost going dollar for dollar with him,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.
