The Everest odds get a shake-up after barrier draw

Nature Strip was the biggest firmer in markets following the barrier draw

After connections drew barrier six, Classique Legend remains the $4.50 favourite at TAB for Saturday’s $15 million TAB Everest at Royal Randwick.

The Les Bridge-trained gelding was victorious when resuming in The Shorts over 1100 metres at Randwick on September 19 before finishing second to Libertini in the Premiere Stakes over 1200 metres at Randwick on October 3.

Long-time favourite Nature Strip has tightened from $6 to $5 after barrier five was selected for TAB’s runner in the world’s richest race on turf.

Since thrashing his rivals in the TAB T.J. Smith Stakes over 1200 metres at Randwick during The Championships last April, Nature Strip has finished runner-up to Gytrash in the Concorde Stakes over 1000 metres at Randwick on September 5 before running fourth in the Premiere Stakes.

Gytrash resumed with a barnstorming victory in the Concorde Stakes and remains a $5 chance with barrier seven drawn by connections.

Libertini – $34 for The Everest before winning the Premiere Stakes – has drifted from $6 to $7 after connections drew the outside barrier in the 12-horse field.
