After failing to gain a start as an emergency in the opening race at Eagle Farm last Saturday, Just Zerene will be debuting at Doomben tomorrow in the B.J. McLachlan Stakes and has been backed from $2.80 to $2 favourite with TAB.
Just Zerene accounts for 60 per cent of the win hold on the B.J. McLachlan Stakes and will almost certainly become favourite for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Gold Coast on January 12 if she is victorious tomorrow.
“Just Zerene opened $51 for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on December 3 after official nominations were announced and has been supported into $6 with early bets of $400 at $51 and $500 at $26,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.
“Considering that almost half of the money placed on the Magic Millions 2YO Classic has been for Just Zerene, she would become favourite over Dubious and Unite And Conquer (currently $5 equal favourites) if successful in tomorrow’s B.J. McLachlan Stakes.”
The move was sparked after trainer Tony McEvoy said at a dinner party that she was the best two year old he has ever trained, the news quickly spread which has seen the plunge on the boomy filly at Doomben this weekend and for the Magic Millions.

Another feature race at Doomben tomorrow is the Vo Rogue Plate which will have a bearing on the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas to be run in a fortnight.
“Outback Barbie was valiant behind the highly impressive Zoustyle in the Gold Edition Plate at Doomben two weeks ago and is currently the $2.70 favourite with TAB after opening $4,” Langskaill said.
“Outback Barbie is presently the $4.50 second elect for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas behind Native Soldier ($3.50) who was victorious in the Christmas Stakes at Caulfield on Boxing Day.”
