The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Swift Witness took no prisoners in the important Aquis Golden Pearl for two-year-old fillies at the Gold Coast, striding away over the final 200m to score by an emphatic, clear-cut margin.
Swift Witness had won both of her trials in November and December 2020 and then made a sound enough debut in the Wyong Magic Millions Two-Year-Old contest on December 16, although the third place finish she gained there was overshadowed at the time by the winning effort in that race of She’s All Class who is the current $2 million Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic which will be contested at the Gold Coast next Saturday.
Swift Witness, who was ridden by Glen Boss on this occasion, clearly has taken benefit from her debut run and has now also gained some vital competitive experience of the Gold Coast track, something She’s All Class will be seeing for the first time under race conditions on the big race-day.
Glorious Ruby, a $61 bolter, got closest to Swift Witness while Miss Hipstar, a $4.20 chance, had to settle for third placing.
Following her impressive win Swift Witness has shortened into $11 with Sportsbet to win the 2021 Magic Millions Classic after being a $51 for next weeks feature prior to her win.
She’s All Class remains the rock solid favourite in Magic Millions Classic betting at $4.20.
