Punters are circling around a former WA galloper in the Everest (1200m) and he has been clearly the best backed runner for the $10 Million showpiece.
The Hayes/Dabernig trained star sprinter Vega Magic hasn’t raced since bolting up in the Memsie (1400m) at Caulfield. He has been given a good break since that run but has worked well publicly a couple of times and the punters are keen despite drawing awkwardly. He opened $5.50 and has been crunched, now into $4.80 and has taken over She Will Reign ($4.80-$4.60-$5) as the favourite.
The Grey Flash that is Chautauqua has also been supported. He opened $6 and is now at $5.50. They are the lone key firmers with the other runners Redzel ($7-$7.50), Redkirk Warrior ($8-$9), Clearly Innocent ($12-$14) and English ($10-$11) all easing.
