Hightail $101-$26 (after winning r1 @ Randwick)

Exhilarates $15-$8 (after winning r6 @ Gold Coast)

RANDWICK

RACE ONE

Hightail got favourite backers off to a good note by winning the Events By ATC Handicap (1150 metres).

The Team Snowden runner was $4.60 in the morning but the sheer weight of support throughout the day saw it crunched into $2.90 fav.

Chasing the hot speed set by Underwood ($10), jockey Hugh Bowman issued his challenge at the top of the straight and the pair quickly claimed the lead and raced to an impressive win.

Avon River, the initial fav, was $3-$3.80 and found the line well for second in front of the flashing light runner in Twentyfour Carat ($8) which rattled home from the rear.

BETS: Hightail $1,500 @ $3.80, $1,000 @ $3.80, $1,000 @ $3.20, $1,500 @ $2.90, $1,300 @ $2.90, $1,000 @ $2.90 TWICE

BETS: Avon River $4,000 @ $3.80, $3,000 @ $3.80, $2,000 @ $3.80

RACE TWO

The heavily tried Easy Eddie did the right thing by punters by winning the Autumn Carnival On Sale Sprint (1150 metres).

A whopping 65 percent of the total investment was riding with the Joe Pride galloper who jumped a $1.55 favourite.

Given a cushy run behind the leader Ever So Natural, jockey Robbie Dolan came off heels on straightening and the son of Super Easy went on to do it well.

Intuition ($3.60), which was the only one seriously tried to beat the fav, ran on well for second with Ever So Natural ($21) in third.

BETS: Easy Eddie $2,000 @ $1.60, $4,000 @ $1.55, $2,600 @ $1.55, $2,000 @ $1.55, $2,000 @ $1.50

BETS: Intuition $1,000 @ $3.60

RACE THREE

La Scopa was sensationally backed in the TAB Highway Handicap (1300 metres) and did the right thing by punters.

Opening at $2.80 on Wednesday, the Matt Dunn-trained runner was $2.20-=$1.95 and heavily leveraged through the multis too.

Brenton Avdulla never had any caused for concern after positioning the mare midfield before peeling wide approaching the home turn.

Letting down with a big finishing burst, La Scopa went on to easily defeat Elegant Ellen ($11) and and Zardoro ($10).

La Scopa was nearly 20 times as popular as anything else in the race and was responsible for 77 percent of the market.

BETS: La Scopa $3,700 @ $1.95, $3,000 @ $1.95

RACE FOUR

The money was spot on with Ljungberg in the fourth event of the card – the 2019 Membership Handicap (1300 metres).

The Ron Quinton-trained runner was heavily supported into a dominant $2.90 favourite after opening at $6 in the morning.

Given a great run by Hugh Bowman, Ljungberg landed the plonk after the hitting the front midway down the straight and racing to an impressive win over the leader, Above And Beyond ($13) and Botti ($13).

Such was the move for Ljungberg that initial favourite Sure Knee went from $4.40 favourite out to $4.60 second pick.

BETS: Ljungberg $1,000 @ $3.70, $2,030 @ $3.60, $5,000 @ $3.20, $1,700 @ $2.90, $1,100 @ $2.90, $1,500 @ $2.70

RACE FIVE

Sweet Scandal ($6.50-$5) managed to lead throughout in the fifth event on the card despite having very little support compared to the two horses in front of it in the betting.

The Art Of The Bar ($2.80) was a very popular favourite but Gongs ($5-$6-$4.20) had good backing to beat it. Between the pair they were responsible for well over 60 percent of the total hold.

Sweet Scandal was rated a treat in front by Sam Weatherley to beat Harmattan ($14) and Gongs.

BETS: Sweet Scandal $1,000 @ $5

RACE SIX

Let’s Party Marty was the subject of a very strong move in The Aviary @ Royal Randwick Handicap (1300 metres).

Opening the day as a $5 shot, punters came for the John Thompson runner hard throughout the day to the point where they sent him out a dominant $2.90 favourite.

Sitting outside the leader Samadoubt ($8-$8.50-$9), Let’s Party Marty couldn’t match motors with the frontrunner and eventually wilted to finish unplaced with Poetic Charmer ($4.40) and Astoria ($9.50) filling the minors.

BETS: Samadoubt $500 e/w @ $9/$2.40, $500 @ $9

BETS: Lets Party Marty $2,000 @ $2.90 TWICE, $1,000 @ $2.90 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Poetic Charmer $1,000 @ $4.60, $1,500 @ $4.40, $1,000 @ $4.20

RACE SEVEN

Gresham was carrying some pretty big money in the Kensington Handicap (1550m) and needed every inch of the straight to land the prize.

Robbie Dolan had to get everything out of the Chris Waller runner which tracked the leader Sir Plush throughout.

The pair managed to get underneath the leader but with Sir Plush ($5.50-$6.50) kicking strongly, Gresham only arrived in the shadows of the post to score.

New Universe ($8-$6.50) had some interest and ran on fairly for third.

Gresham commanded the market ever since betting opened on Wednesday. The first horse backed at $3.60 at that point, it touched even money today before jumping at $2.25.

It was more than three times as popular as the second pick in the market in Spectroscope ($4.60).

BETS: Gresham $30,000 @ $2.20, $8,000 @ $2.20, $4,000 @ $2.20

RACE EIGHT

Heart Conquered attracted some good bets throughout the day despite being a drifter in the Summer Racing Sprint (1000 metres).

The Team Hawkes runner was $2.40 out to $3.70 with the drift due to the support for Sei Stella ($3.40-$2.60).

With the pair racing on the speed throughout, they broke away down the straight and fought out the finish with Heart Conquered proving a shade too strong.

Tessera, which was $19-$12, ran on for third but was some distance back.

Of the others, Rebel Miss carried some decent bets while Tessera

BETS: Heart Conquered $3,000 @ $3.70, $3,000 @ $3.60, $1,000 @ $3.60, $1,500 @ $3.40, $1,000 @ $3.40, $1,000 @ $3.10

BETS: Sei Stella $6,400 $2.60, $3,000 @ $2.60

RACE NINE

Sam Weatherley stole the show on Mercurial Lad in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1550 metres).

The apprentice jockey bustled Mercurial Lad ($9-$8) out from his wide barrier and managed to find the front. Dictating terms and setting a nice speed to suit, the pair booted clear at the top of the straight but had company in the form of Sparky Lad ($4.80-$10) which raced outside it and loomed up dangerously.

Kicking clear, Mercurial Lad then held off the finishing burst of Tahsin ($4) which came from well back in the field to score the win. Nicci’s Gold ($5.50) made up good ground as well to beat out Sparky Lad for third.

Super Star Bob went around as the favourite at $3.20 and was responsible for 41 percent of the total.

BETS: Super Star Bob $1,800 @ $3.50

BETS: Toroso $2,000 @ $8.50, $4,000 @ $7.50

BETS: Niccis Gold $5,000 e/w @ $5.50/$1.90

BETS: Tahsin $5,000 @ $4.20

CAULFIELD

RACE ONE

Tropezina ($5-$6) led throughout for Michael Poy to land the money in the Patricia Cooper Handicap (1000 metres).

While most of the betting activity focused on Du Well ($2.90-$3.20 fav), Tropezina attracted only light support but packed too many punches over the concluding stages for the favourite which sat fourth in the run.

Mischa, which had good eachway support and firmed from $12-$8.50 on the day, wasn’t far off in third.

Du Well was easily the best backed runner in the race and accounted for just over half the total investment.

BETS: Tropezina $1,000 @ $5

RACE TWO

Arrochar ($19-$26-$18), one of the least popular runners in the second event on the card, upset the apple cart for favourite backers.

Sitting on the speed throughout, Arrochar powered to the lead on straightening and then held off the finishing burst of race favourite Cincinnati Red ($2.40-$1.85-$2.05) to score an impressive win.

Ensuing ($26) ran on well to finish close up in third.

Cincinnati Red was one of the best tried runners on the card at Caulfield, holding 70 percent of the total investment. It was nearly seven times as popular as any other runner.

BETS: Arrochar $1,100 @ $26

BETS: Cincinnati Red $4,000 @ $2.05, $3,500 @ $2.05, $3,000 @ $2

RACE THREE

It was another rough result at Caulfield, this time when Bold Missile finished off best to win the Donya Van Pampus Handicap (1200 metres).

The Henry Dwyer runner was too good over the concluding stages from More Bricks ($6.50) and Redcore ($8).

Bold Missile, the second leg of a double for Dwyer after Tropezina won the opener, was $15-$26-$31 and held the least amount of money in the race.

Kaplumpich ($3.20) and Magnesium Rose ($3.80) were easily the two best tried in the race, with More Bricks a distant third in that respect.

BETS: Magnesium Rose $4,000 @ $4, $3,000 @ $3.70

BETS: Kaplumpich $2,000 @ $3.30, $2,350 @ $3.20, $2,300 @ $3.20

BETS: More Bricks $6,000 @ $6.50, $11,000 @ $2 PLACE

RACE FOUR

Supre was the best tried runner outside the favourite Crimson Tears with the pair running right up to the support.

It was the former that landed the money at $4 after being $4.80 in the morning.

Crimson Tears was $3.20 top pick and held more than double the amount of money than the winner. Between the pair they were responsible for 60 percent of the total investment.

BETS: Supre $1,000 @ $4.80 TWICE, $1,000 @ $4.40

BETS: Crimson Tears $5,000 @ $3.30

RACE FIVE

It was an upset result in the fifth event of the day when Chatuchak stormed home down the outside of the track to get the money.

Dwayne Dunn timed his run to perfection with the daughter of Lohnro flying home to defeat Nodoubtaboutit ($41) and Mazurek ($19). Chatuchak had been $9.50 in the morning but got out to $17 at the jump.

While it attracted some specking at the eachway quote, most of the money here was with Miss Norway ($3.40-$2.70), Just Hifalutin ($5.50) and Fill The Flute ($3.30-$4.20).

BETS: Miss Norway $5,000 @ $2.70 TWICE, $2,500 @ $2.70, $3,800 @ $2.60

BETS: Just Hifalutin $5,400 @ $5.50

RACE SIX

Black Sail delivered for favourite backers in the Nicholas Rehfisch Handicap (1600 metres).

The Maher & Eustace-trained runner was the most popular runner in terms of money held and benefitted from a good run on the speed. Rated perfectly by Linda Meech, Black Sail defeated the frontrunner Prima ($16) which ran a good race at odds.

Amadeus ($4.60-$8) was a big drifter but wound up third.

The story of the race was the big move for Notio which was $7 in the morning and backed to $4.40 second pick. It raced three-back the inside and never got the chance to get warm.

RACE SEVEN

Lamborghini (5.50) was well supported right throughout the day to win the Peter Missen Handicap (2000 metres).

Backed in from $7.50 in the morning, Lamborghini went around as the second best tried runner in the race behind Creedence ($4.60) and it was fitting that both runners fought out the finish.

Tahlia Hope produced the Patrick Payne runner with a big finishing burst from the back of the pack, with the pair storming home to pip Creedence in the shadows of the post.

Kilmacurragh ($13), which led, hung on for third after being attacked in front throughout.

BETS: Lamborghini $9,500 x $10,000 e/w @ $6/$2.20

RACE EIGHT

The best backed runner across the country all day landed some huge bets – but not without a major scare!

Mastering was hammered in betting and commanded 75 percent of the total investment and firmed from $1.80 in the morning to start at $1.70 after briefly touching $1.65.

The Mick Price runner was the first horse backed on Wednesday when $2.25 was available.

Jockey Jake Noonan pulled him in to the clear in plenty of time and a comfortable win midway down the straight turned out to be a near nightmare for its backers, after Harbour Grey ($23) lunged right on the line but missed by a nose.

Kalashani Lad ($51) added some spice to the trifecta.

BETS: Mastering $50,000 @ $1.75, $20,000 @ $1.75, $11,000 @ $1.75, $5,800 @ $1.75, $5,000 @ $1.70 MULTIPLE TIMES, $30,000 @ $1.14 PLACE

RACE NINE

Punters banked on Demolition ($2.35) to get the job done in the Alicia White Handicap (1100 metres).

They sent the Godolphin runner out a very popular favourite and in terms of money held on the day, only Mastering in the previous race held more than it.

Despite racing close to the action on the speed, Demolition weakened out of it on straightening with Enigman ($9.50-$11) finishing best to overhaul the leader Streets Of Avalon ($23).

Top Me Up ($71) finished third in what was a rough result for punters.

Demolition had accounted for 65 percent of the total investment.

Of the others, there was a strong betting move for Exceltara which was $8-$3.90 but it failed to materialise.

BETS: Demolition $20,000 @ $2.35, $10,000 e/w @ $2.35/$1.30

BETS: Exceltara $3,000 @ $3.90
