First Group race on what is a cracking card at Warwick Farm on Saturday is a traditional lead up race for the Golden Slipper – the Skyline Stakes for Colts and Geldings. Two well bred colts, Kirov and Mahican make their debuts here and create plenty of interest.

1. REGIMENTAL PRIDE – N Berry (5)
He had won two of his four starts before returning from a brief let-up with a four length fourth behind Never Can Tell in the Listed Canonbury Stakes and then, a fortnight ago, battled on well in the Heavy conditions when fifth in the G2 Slver Slipper behind Sweet Idea (beaten 3 ¾ ). Forgive him a little for last start, he’s first look at Heavy ground and the Canonbury has proved a good form race with Whittington and Criterion both running well since.

2. FUERZA – J McDonald (4)
From the local and very much in-form stables of Bjorn Baker, this son of Snippetson has raced twice, finishing close seconds on both occasions. He was beaten a head behind stable-mate and last weekend’s Sire’s Produce Stakes winner, Twilight Rose before lodging an unsuccessful protest against Marseille Roulette in the Inglis Classic. Has obvious ability and will be finishing hard.

3. ALL THE TALK – B Avdulla (7)
Stratum colt yet to run a bad race in four starts thus far for local trainer Gary Portelli. Shot out of the gates a fortnight ago at his most recent start in the Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) and stuck on tenaciously in the Heavy conditions, finishing fourth (beaten 2.7 lengths) behind Sweet Idea. First go at 1200m but will be on pace throughout again.

4. GOOD JOB BRO – J Bowman (8)
John Sargent trains this son of Choisir who broke his maiden status last start in emphatic style, leaving his rivals standing in the straight to record a 2 ¾ length win here at Warwick Farm in Open company three weeks back. Relished the wet conditions last start but his two starts prior – both on good – were also solid and included a second to Guelph. His draw makes it a little tricky but only needs half a chance to be competitive.

5. DOTHRAKI – G Schofield (2)
Son of Mossman found Assail too slick when finishing fifth (beaten 5.6 lengths) on debut in the Wyong Magic Millions before showing too much speed when leading all the way to record a head victory at Canterbury over Aussies Love Sport. That last start was in December and she’s had the benefit of a Barrier Trial on the 5th March. Expect her to go forward from her inside draw.

6. OCTANE FLYER – B Shinn (1)
Queensland trainer Kelly Schweida will make the trek down south with this son of Statue of Liberty who hasn’t raced since finishing 2 ¾ length second to Greytfilly in a 2yo Handicap at Doomben in December. Should get a nice run behind the speed from one but prefer to see him produce the goods at this level before tipping him to do so.

7. CITATIONS – K McEvoy (7)
He ran third to Sweet Idea on debut back in October before a fifth placing as 13/4 favourite in the G3 Maribyrnong Plate. The Darley representative than returned in the Silver Slipper but failed to handle the Heavy conditions, finishing second to last. Will no doubt improve on that effort but not sure enough to figure here.

8. KIROV – C Brown (3)
Well bred colt by Al Maher out of G2 winning mare, Fatoon. Trained by Tim Martin for owner Alan Bell (Desert War, Schillaci, Pampelonne etc), he has had the one barrier trial where he finished a long neck second to Senior Council. Respect the fact that connections have started him in this race and drawn well.

9. MAHICAN – L Nolen (9)
Peter Moody debuts this colt by More Than Ready out of well performed mare Eskaw, who has had two barrier trails, both in Sydney with the latest being a head win over Countryman. He’s been in Sydney for a while now, so the stable will have a good line on him in terms of how he is progressing and also note, P G Moody is listed as one of the owners as well.

OVERVIEW.
Pace here will be very strong with All The Talk and Dothraki both going forward and Regimental Pride, Octane Flyer and Good Job Bro (drawn wide) also handy. Fuerza could easily have a record that reads two from two and, with a solid speed being set up front, he should get the chance here to finish over the top of them here. First starter Mahican has opened up at $6.50 and already trimmed up a little to $6.00. Further betting moves should be closely monitored. Not sure where Good Job Bro gets to in the run and therefore, touch cautious about his chance when only $3.20 is offered.
