Golden Mane won last prep off the back of strong market support and that could well be the case again this Saturday at Caulfield in a heat of the Swettenham Stud Summer Championship (1600m) if the Sportsbet.com.au flucs are any guide.
The Hayes/Dabernig runner resumed over 1400m at Sandown a fortnight back and closed off his race with purpose late in the piece to run fourth to the in form galloper Airalign. He is suited up to 1800m and is a second up winner. He opened $10 and the punters thought that was very generous overs. He has been backed into $6.00.
He has not been the sole significant firmer in the race. Chance To Dance, who resumes for Team Williams off the back of some inglorious efforts, has been $8.00 to $5.00, largely on the fact that his best would be good enough to beat these.
Favourite for the race is the Tassie star that is Hellova Street at $4.50, who has drifted slightly despite coming off the back of strong WFA efforts back home behind Admiral.
