Punters only want one horse when it comes to the Australian Derby (2400m) this Saturday at Randwick and it’s a horse who is yet to be tested at the trip.
Rosehill Guineas winner Castelvecchio has always looked a 2400m type since this time last year and is finally at the distance for the first time. He opened $3.50 on Tuesday and was crunched to $2.70 before settling at $2.80.
He is clearly the one punters want in early betting, ahead of Shadow Hero, a $3.80 chance out from $3.50. The other key chance, Warning, is a $5.50 chance and is rock solid now he’s getting out to an ideal trip.
