Race 4 – Chairman’s Handicap
Equal $4.60 Sydney Cup favourites Sertorius and The Offer will go to battle. There is little between them in betting with The Offer ($3.30) slight favourite over Sertorius ($3.70). However, they do not have it on their own as Opinion ($5.00) is steady and plenty of admirers for Victorian stayer Epingle ($10-$9.00). Plenty of money has come for roughie, Like A Carousel at $34. Race 5 – Sires Produce
Interesting race with four Gerald Ryan trained runners dominating betting. Ryan saddles $4.00 equal favourites Believe Yourself and Peggy Jean, both receiving similar money. His others, Time For War ($8.00) and Lucky Racquie ($9.00) are unwanted. Darley runner Kumaon ($6.00) next best backed away from favourites. View the market
Race 6 – Australian Derby
Favourite Criterion ($3.50) steady and well supported, but best backed runner is Singing Flame ($13). Kiwi three-year-old Puccini is on the drift and out to $8.00 and not much support for Thunder Fantasy ($7.00). View the market
Race 7 – T.J. Smith Stakes
The big drift is on here for the fancied runners. Favourite Lankan Rupee $3.80 out to $4.20. No northern money for Buffering has arrived with the Queenslander easing to $6.50. Debut Australian winner Gordon Lord Byron is the one punters want at $7.50. Nibbles at good odds for Fontelina ($19) and Villa Verde ($15). View the market
Race 8 – Doncaster
Another favourite here, Messene ($4.20-$5.00) is easy, punters have abandoned him since drawing barrier 18. Chris Waller trained Weary ($5.50) has been heavily backed. Stablemates Hawkspur ($8.50) and Royal Descent ($11), are Waller’s other two best supported, of the six he will saddle. Speediness is the best supported runner and has firmed from $21 into $19.View the market
Caulfield
Race 6 – Pink Ribbon Cup
Punters are finding it hard to single one out here. Favourite Natuzzi ($5.50) has been well supported. However, with the US Masters on perhaps omen punters have rallied behind Nearest To Pin. The four-year-old is the best backed runner firming from $14 into $7.50. Mandela, although easing to $6.50, is not friendless. View the market
Doomben
Race 6 – Powerade Handicap
Tragedy ($6.50) is the best backed runner at Doomben. The Paul Nolan Junior trained gelding, who was luckless last start, has received 70 percent of wagers. Kurtly has the blows and is out to $4.40 equal favourite with heart Of Many, also unwanted. View the market
