Punters think Trekking will just win todays Winterbottom Stakes

It’s all one way traffic with Sportsbet punters when it comes to the feature race at Ascot this evening, the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m).

Trekking ran fourth in the race last year but looks a better horse 12 months on and the depth compared to last year isn’t as strong. Trialled up super on Monday and despite a wide gate, he’s clearly been the best backed. Opened $2 and got to $2.10 but punters have stepped in, with the gelding now at $1.85 after being crunched.

There has been specking for one to beat him. Red Can Man was close up in the Railway last Saturday and despite back to 1200m in a week, he has had admirers at a price, into $17 from $26.

On the second line of betting is Celebrity Queen, who got to $7.50 from $8.50 but is now back out to her opening price.
