Divine Mr Artie, who was totally unsuited in the Standish (1200m) on New Years Day, has been backed early on with Sporstbet.com.au to take out the Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) this Saturday at Flemington.
The four year old gelding contested the Standish last start and it was pretty much a WFA race given all runners had 58kg, and given his rating, he pretty much had no hope. Gets down on the minimum now and looks suited up to 1400m. He opened $4.80 and has firmed to $4.60.
He holds sway in betting ahead of Grande Rosso at $5.50. The interesting runner is the Queensland mare Sold For Song, who has been $7.00 out from $6.50 but looks well placed at the Flemington 1400m given her racing pattern and Newitt steers.
Impressive last start Sandown winner Top Me Up, who looks to get favours on speed with the minimum weight, is rock solid at $9.00.
