Punters were quick to back Burning Front after Stradbroke markets opened
The horse affectionately known as the ‘Mouse Wheel’ has been best backed in early betting with Sportsbet.com.au to take out the Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) this Saturday at Doomben.
Burning Front, that has the nickname due to the fact he keeps going around and around and continues to race so well at a high level, gets his first crack at Group l level and punters think he is the value runner. He opened $21 but has been solidly backed into $10.
He hasn’t been the lone firmer. Mackintosh has also been heavily backed shortening from $8.00 into $7.00. In Her Time ($21-$17-$18) is also good value to take out the event, as has Hooked ($26-$17). The Virginian, who was a flop last weekend, has had interest at odds ($21-$51-$34).
Fav for the race is Kingsford Smith Cup winner Clearly Innocent at $5.50, and has been rock solid around that price despite drawing gate 20.
