Fourth emergency Renew, at odds of $251 at Sportingbet.com.au, will get a start in Saturday’s Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup after Dear Demi became the fourth horse scratched since the final field was declared on Tuesday.
Dear Demi was a $16 chance at Sportingbet.com.au and had generated some moderate interest, firming from $17 and attracting one bet of $1500 at the $17.
Lucia Valentina remains a $3.80 favourite at Sportingbet, in front of the Peter Moody-trained duo Lidari ($9) and Brambles ($9),who now share second favouritism.
The Chris Waller-trained Who Shot Thebarman has emerged from the mayhem as one of the punters’ picks late on Friday, along with stablemate Junoob.
“We took a $6,000 bet for Who Shot Thebarman at odds of $16 and Junoob is $14 into $10 courtesy of some solid support and the scratchings,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.
“Who Shot Thebarman has now taken over as our worst result since the final field was declared, with Junoob and Lidari in a photo for second.”
