Peter Moody’s Dissident will be carrying plenty of extra weight in tomorrow’s Australia Stakes at the Valley with punters from online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au launching into the Group 1 winner.
Opened at $2.10, Dissident has been crunched into $1.85. So convinced are Sportsbet punters, Dissident has attracted eight times more money than the second best backed runner Hard Stride, who’s at $6.00.
Tudor, on the second line of betting at $4.80, is unwanted.
In the Australia Day Cup at Randwick, punters have narrowed the winner down to three – Oriental Lady ($4.60 into $4.40), Danas Best ($3.00 out to $3.80) and Off The Rails (steady at $10).
Oriental Lady is the best backed of the trio.
The only other contender punters are considering in the Australian Day Cup is Ghost Protocol, who’s had its odds slashed from $34 into $9.00.
“Punters have made their intentions clear and have declared Dissident almost unbeatable,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said. “The $2.10 didn’t last long and at this rate the $1.85 won’t be around for much longer.”
