A punter is eagerly awaiting tomorrow’s Victoria Derby at Flemington as they will collect $203,765 if Shadow Hero – currently $3.10 favourite at TAB – salutes in the three-year-old staying feature over 2500 metres.
On September 30, the customer in question placed a $500 six-leg racing Multi at odds of $407.53 combining Spring Racing feature races in Sydney and Melbourne.
The first two legs of the Multi were for races at Royal Randwick on October 5 with Funstar winning the Flight Stakes and Kolding taking out the TAB Epsom.
The next leg was for one of the Group 1 races at Caulfield on October 12 with Flit saluting in the Thousand Guineas.
The fourth and fifth legs were for the two big races at Royal Randwick on October 19 and the customer only required the thoroughbreds in question to run in the placings.
Victorem finished second to Handle The Truth in The Kosciuszko while Santa Ana Lane was runner-up to Yes Yes Yes in the TAB Everest.
Since then, the TAB punter has waited patiently for the Victoria Derby with Shadow Hero entering in terrific form.
The Mark Newnham-trained gelding won the 1800-metre Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on September 28 before taking out the 2000-metre Spring Champion Stakes at Royal Randwick on October 12 and beating subsequent Cox Plate runner-up Castelvecchio.
