Unbeaten colt Pierro should continue on his winning way in the Stutt Stakes on Friday night according to online bookmaker sportsbet.
Pierro is $1.16 favourite for his first attempt around the tight Moonee Valley circuit, the venue for next month’s Cox Plate.
The triple crown winner drew ideally in barrier three in the eight horse field. Nearest to Pierro in the market is Jimando and Philippi, both priced at $11.
“Some horses just can’t handle the Valley, but Pierro is bomb proof,’’ sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
“He toyed with the opposition first-up and by all reports has thrived since. He’s drawn ideally in barrier three so we expect the Valley to pose no problems and he should chalk up win number seven.’’
Pierro continues to firm for Cox Plate honours, tightening from $4.80 into $4.40 in the last 24 hours, with stable mate More Joyous steady at $7.00, moving ahead of Ocean Park, who’s eased from $6.50 out to $7.50.
