2022 Moir Stakes Speed Map
There are a couple here who only know one way to run, which is fast, those being Malkovich and Zoustyle. Former leaders latter, with potentially Rothfire 1/1 and Generation box seating, which could leave Coolangatta in an awful spot three back on the fence.
2022 Moir Stakes Runner Preview
1.The Inferno: Gee I think he’s a silly price. Went close in the race last year and I thought the return in the McEwen was a beauty, clocking fast late splits after being run off his feet early. He needs a patient steer and B Shinn is the perfect booking. I can see him sitting back and launching at these late.
2.Paulele: Happy to have egg on my face, but I think he’s a pretender. If he was top shelf, he would have won both the Doomben 10,000 and Kingsford Smith but IMO was shy of the winning post. He wins this, he’ll be in The Everest, where he loves Randwick. He can win, but without me.
3.Rothfire: He’s the map horse. He got the ideal map in the McEwen and was impressive late in wearing down Zoustyle, who had the track pattern in his corner. I believe the stable are honing in on this and the Manikato, so there’s a plan in place and he gets run of the race. Hard to beat.
4.Zoustyle: He was brave in defeat in the McEwen given he bombed the start and was forced to hunt up to lead. Entitled to knock right up but found and was only run down late by Rothfire. If he leads and gets control, he’ll be hard to get past. But I doubt Malkovich will hand up.
5.Malkovich: Attempted to lead throughout in the Concorde at Randwick but was no match for Eduardo. He does get better as the prep goes on and I do feel with the lead there to be had, fitter, firmer footing, he’ll run a cheeky race at odds.
6.Generation: Generation is several weeks between runs for the Maher/Eustace camp since resuming at this track/distance where he was on speed and fought on strongly, kicking, but was bloused late by Queensland raider Shooting For Gold. Fitter, and I think with a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.
7.Extremely Lucky: He’s a very good horse this. Forgiving of his Carlyon effort given the track was quite testing and he just wobbled on the turn, first look at the track. Patient ride he’ll need and he gets B Melham, so that box is ticked. He’ll be last in the run but launching late.
8.September Run: High quality mare that resumes. Won the William Reid in the Autumn after looking goneat one stage in her career. She can sprint well fresh at 1000m but will need things to fall into place.
9.Bella Nipotina: She’s a ripping mare for the Maher/Eustace camp. Backed with confidence fresh in the Carlyon and the market was spot on as she came with a well timed run to win. The gate makes it hard, but she’s just so genuine.
10.Isotope: You’d think this is D-Day for Isotope. She resumed in the Cockram and while she was in restricted room, I thought she was entitled to finish the race off a bit better behind Chain Of Lightning. She is very hit and miss, but if she brings her best, she can certainly take this out.
11.Mileva: She’s a handy mare that was brave on speed in the Carlyon behind Bella Nipotina but this is different gravy here and drawn wide, I think she’s no chance.
12.Coolangatta: Contender or pretender time. Thought she was a touch disappointing in the McEwen after seemingly getting her chance on speed. Gate one, on paper, looks a big tick, but if she gets buried back, she’s in awful trouble. If she was to land box seat, she is right in the mix.
2022 Moir Stakes $100 Betting Strategy:
Very open race. I’m going to have a couple of bets here. $10 Win/$40 Place on The Inferno, who will sit back and launch late. The other $50 is on Rothfire to win. Just maps too well to ignore and the first up win indicates he’s back on track.
Group l Strategy Outlay: $350
Group l Strategy Return: $375
