Melbourne Cup contender Steel Prince is the clear favourite for Saturday's Herbert Power Stakes

Steel Prince is heading towards the Melbourne Cup and is favourite with Sportsbet.com.au to get into the winners list this Saturday at Caulfield in the Herbert Power (2400m), a ballot exemption for the Caulfield Cup.

The Anthony Freedman trained stayer got his way into the 2019 Melbourne Cup off the back of a win in the Andrew Ramsden during the Autumn and with two runs under the belt this prep, he looks on target. He is the $4 favourite in early betting.

He does have a relatively strong hold on the market, with a few runner at around the $8 quote, including Prince Of Arran, Glory Days, Sully and Hang Man, with the majority needing to win to push for a Melbourne Cup berth.
