Sportingbet Australia punters are throwing their support behind 2011 Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden to do it again on Tuesday, backing the Mikel Delzangles trained galloper from $8 into $7.50 two days out from the cup.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Dunaden has been the best backed runner at Sportingbet on the Sunday before the cup.
“We took a $15,000 bet on Dunaden at $8 before I had a chance to eat my cornflakes this morning and every second or third big bet since has been for him,” Sullivan said.
“Dunaden and Americain are our worst results by a long way as they have both been backed off the map in recent weeks including a $50,000 bet on Americain at double figure odds,” Sullivan said.
“Maluckyday has been the best backed of the Aussie contingent and is also a bad result for us after plenty of four figure punters got on at $31 a couple of weeks back.”
Last year’s runner-up Red Cadeaux has also attracted plenty of attention with one punter putting $3000 on the Ed Dunlop trained contender at $11 with Sportingbet today.
“Red Cadeaux has been extremely well tried in the last week,” Sullivan said.
