Perth trained gallopers have a great record in Melbourne’s feature sprints and yet another has been the subject of a big priced plunge for this year’s Newmarket Handicap.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the Adam Durrant trained Master Of Design had been backed from $201 to $61 in the last couple of days.
“We’ve took two bets of $100,000 to $500 as well as several smaller bets with punters still wanting to get on when we wound him into $71,†said Sullivan.
“He won a recent Bunbury trial by seven lengths and punters obviously feel he’s improved on the exposed form from when he was previously trained in Victoria.â€
Super sprinting mare Black Caviar still holds favouritism for the Newmarket at $2.20 ahead of another former WA galloper, Hay List, at $9.00.
