Spirit Ridge has opened favourite in Saturday's January Cup

Mark Newnham looks to have a strong hand in the January Cup (2000m) this Saturday at Randwick and that is reflected in the Sportsbet.com.au market.

Of the five runners at single figures, Newnham has three of them including last start Stakes winner and early favourite Spirit Ridge, who is at $3.40.

He holds the call over Laure Me In, who opened $4.80 and is currently sitting at $5. Gone Bye, another for Newnham, is $7.50 to $8 while the third of the Newnham runners, Fulmina, has been supported, into as short as $6 from $7 but currently is at $6.50.
