Sandown Race Two Number 1 La Mexicana ($2.60): I think she’s short enough for a filly that has to be a query at 1400m. The bias helped her win on Cox Plate Day and that was 1200m. Has to step up to 1400m now and there are some here on an upward spiral with improvement to come. I think she’s a clear risk, especially at the price.

Sandown Race Six Number 1 Aysar ($1.75): He could well blow them away ala Bivouac last week, but at the price, I’m happy to lay him at the price. He was given the A1 run in the Carbine Club and couldn’t get past Crosshaven. The two times he has run at 1600m, he has failed to run it out strongly, and at $1.75, I couldn’t back him.
