Gatewood has firmed from $21 into $11 and onto the fifth line of betting with online bookmaker sportsbet for the 2012 Melbourne Cup after saluting in the Geelong Cup this afternoon.
French stayer Dunaden continues to head the Melbourne Cup market at $6.50, easing slightly from $6.00.

Dunaden, the best backed runner for the Cup with sportsbet.com.au, is followed in the betting by 2010 winner Americain at $9.00, Mount Athos ($9.00 out to $10), Brigantin ($11 into $10), Red Cadeaux and Green Moon (both $12).
Tac De Boistron has ballooned from $21 out to $34 following his run in the Geelong Cup, while Maluckyday has tightened into $17 from $26.
“Dunaden and Americain continue to attract the bulk of money at this stage but today’s Geelong Cup was run at a very slow tempo and that plays right into Gatewood’s hands,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes.
“He’s a lightly raced stayer with a turn of foot and of course drops in weight for the Melbourne Cup 2012 so we expect punter support to grow as we near the Cup.”
Lights Of Heaven and Shahwardi remain steady at $15 with My Quest For Peace firming from $26 into $21
