As is the case most of the year, it was a busy week at the trials and jumpouts across Australia as the Summer racing approaches, with some progressive types stepping out in readiness for their campaigns.
I’ve looked at the available trials and jumpouts for the week and have come up with a few to follow heading forward over the next few weeks.
RECENT RESULTS: Just a quiet seven days. Three runners from last Saturday, with Easy Beast being outclassed in the Doveton, Bobbing crying out for a wet track after his effort at Newcastle and at Kembla, Great News should have won but got hampered in the straight. On Wednesday, Aquitaine was smashed in betting and duly bolted up in impressive fashion.
UPCOMING RUNNERS:
Saturday November 23
Ballarat: Ef Troop R9 – Trialled brilliantly, he’s hard to beat and $5 very acceptable
Doomben: Signore Fox R8 – He’s flying and only bad luck beats him
Doomben: Zourkhan R9 – May want further and one more run under the belt
Kembla: Nordic R3 – Not sure this is a suitable race, but he’s going really well
Tuesday November 26
Kyneton: Tee Train R6 – Strikes a good field, but winnable race if he runs up to the Terang jumpout
NEW SOUTH WALES
Monday November 18 (Hawkesbury): Somewhat hard to place given his racing, but I think Chauffeur is flying off his Heat 2 trial win. Led throughout under Rachel King and he bolted up, running sharp overall time, but his last 600m of 32.54, and under a hold, was very impressive. I think with the right placement, he can win. Celandine is an unraced Godolphin filly who contested Heat 6, her second trial for this prep. She was near the speed throughout before being slapped down the side a couple of times and the change up speed was there for all to see. It was impressive work and I think she can win on debut, ideally at the provincials.

VICTORIA
Monday November 18 (Cranbourne): Tigger is a lightly raced seven year old who has been given a good break and I thought he was the standout of the morning in Heat 10. He was near the speed and under a really good hold throughout and really, any hint of rein and he wins the trial, but he remained under a hold but it was a lovely piece of work. Has clearly had his issues but you can see why they are being patient. He has a good motor.

Wednesday November 20 (Terang): Good set of jumpouts at Terang. First one to highlight is Poor Sam from Heat 3. This filly was on speed throughout and wasn’t asked for an effort at any stage. Loved the way she moved and seemingly had plenty to offer. Tee Train is a talented animal for Symon Wilde and he appears on target for Kyneton on Tuesday based on his work in Heat 6 where he was near the speed chasing the leader and under minimal pressure, he closed off strongly and was a real eye catcher. Bold Arial contested Heat 7 and she’s the interesting one. Couldn’t have been held any slower in the run and despite fading late, she looked to be bolting so keen to see where she resumes.
