As is the case most of the year, it was a busy week at the trials and jumpouts across Australia, with some progressive types stepping out in readiness for their campaigns.
I’ve looked at the available trials and jumpouts for the week and have come up with a few to follow heading forward over the next few weeks.
Blaxel Rose – Just a fair debut. Want to see again
Don’tforgetmonica – Have to mark down as disappointing
Embracer – Just not a wet tracker
Sizzlefly – Too bad to be true
Bourbon Beau – Terrible, again
My Cousin James – Ran up to a sharp trial and duly saluted on debut
All Native – Disappointing resumption
Aasira – Solid against the pattern
Tailleur – Track pattern wasn’t idea
Tuesday July 21
Wyong: Barossa Rosa R4 – Loved the trial win and finds a suitable maiden for the debut
Wednesday July 22
Sandown: Frondeur R4 – If he’s going to feature in the Spring, would want to be going close to winning
NEW SOUTH WALES
Friday July 17 (Rosehill): Mister Sea Wolf looks in for a really good prep if his effort in Heat 1 this morning is any guide. Loved the way he trucked along behind the speed and seemed to have plenty in hand under Avdulla to go to the line unextended. Won the Winter Challenge a couple of years ago and might resume there on Saturday. If so, hard to beat.
Tuesday July 14 (Doomben): Tony Gollan produced several impressive juveniles this morning but the one that I was taken with was Miami Fleiss from Heat 16. On speed throughout under Nothdurft was this unraced 2YO before being clicked up at the top of the straight and went through the gears nicely to win by a few lengths in good time for the morning. Keen to see where it debuts.
Monday July 13 (Lark Hill): You’d love to know what Bernie Miller has in store for Cup Night. Early to be trialling if they’re thinking maybe a race like the Railway. I think he’s that good and he’s trialling as if he’s come back as well as ever. Sat near the back in Heat 9 this morning before Carbery clicked him up on the turn, peeled into clear air and under light riding, went through the gears like the classy animal he is and raced away. He’s in for a big prep.
