As is the case most of the year, it was a busy week at the trials and jumpouts across Australia, with some progressive types stepping out in readiness for their campaigns.

I’ve looked at the available trials and jumpouts for the week and have come up with a few to follow heading forward over the next few weeks.

Ritratto: Plain I thought in what was a thin staying race. Back to his own age this Saturday
Stoical: Speedy squib that wasn’t speedy enough for a Newcastle 900m so that’s a concern

Saturday April 25
Flemington: Kuramae R3 – Think this might be the clean out run for Warrnambool
Morphettville Parks: Seemingly Discreet R6 – Looks really hard to beat again
Morphettville Parks: Appalachian R6 – He’s the pony I want to back at around $9
Rosehill: Dyslexic R4 – If you can forgive the resumption and go off the trial, she’s in the mix
Sunshine Coast: Isotope R3 – Should make it 2/2

Sunday April 26
Geelong: Trench Warfare R4 – Had him blackbooked from a trial back in July. Recent jumpout was good so keen to see him debut, but I’m thinking the 1700m maiden at Warrnambool might be his race
Geelong: Salorsci R7 – Another one that will catch the eye I think in readiness for Warrnambool

Tuesday April 28
Kembla: Mollycoddle R1 – Finds a very winnable maiden

Tuesday April 21 (Randwick): H7 saw Shuwaamekh lead throughout. Beautifully bred type that didn’t fire a shot first up but back to the trials, loved the way it went in front, leading all the way and running decent enough time. Back on firmer footing next start, giving another chance but wouldn’t want to take anything silly short.

Wednesday April 22 (Sandown Hillside): Lisa Enright has played the patient game with Liapari, waiting for the Winter. This veteran contested Heat 1 and I liked the way he closed off from the back under riding, being given a good hitout. If he can find wet tracks, I think he’ll win one at a decent enough price.

Tuesday April 21 (Doomben): I think most eyes were on Heat 2 with Outback Barbie and the classy mare looks in great order based on this trial win. Sat just off the speed before being presented clear air on the turn and under a hold, she moved beautifully in winning under a hold, and ran sharp time for the morning. She’s on track for the Winter features.
