Kembla Grange
$50 Win Classic Gaming R2 (Tote)
$20 Win/$30 Place Bolord R8 @ $126 Win (TAB), Place (Tote)
Kembla Grange Overview:
Looks to be a bit of depth to the second event. Classic Gaming was good on debut at Canterbury behind Funstar before racing over 1400m at this track where they turned it into a real sit/sprint, which he was up for, but just didn’t have the sustained zip in the legs to win. Like him up to 1500m and am hoping that Glyn goes forward from the wide draw to sit handy near the speed. Not sure he can come from near last and win. The speck of the day at huge odds is Bolord. First up it will say he beat one runner home and was beaten over seven lengths, but his run was really good when you break it down. First up at 1200m is not his go and he couldn’t keep up early. Looked as if he’d run tailed off last, but he didn’t turn it up and actually kept finding the line and was strong late. Outside the winner, clocked the best late splits of the race. He might need one or two more runs, but I’m convinced he’ll win races this prep and at $126, more than happy to have something on each way.
Townsville
$100 Win Magic Ray R3 (Tote)
Townsville Overview: Made him the best of the day. Has had two runs up in this part of the world after formerly racing in Northern NSW. Resumed over 1000m at this track last Tuesday where he got back in the ruck, showing little to no gate speed, but loved the way he found the line late to run second. Quickly up to 1300m, Ryan Wiggins is arguably the form rider in Queensland at the moment and drawn out, hoping he can get three wide cover and get a drag into the race to let down late. If that eventuates, I think he’ll be winning.
