Gosford
$10 Win/$40 Place She’s Smart R6 @ $14/$4.2 (Sportsbet)
Gosford Overview:I reckon she’s worth a throw at the stumps at the odds. Gary Portelli trains this filly, who debuted at Kembla back in April where she lost her compass on the turn and weakened badly late. Been given a good break and gee I liked the way she trialled on the Warwick Farm Synthetic track. Looks the likely leader and if she puts everything together, she’ll run well I’m sure and keep in mind she was $5.50 on debut in what looked a stronger maiden to the one she faces here.
Northam
$10 Win/$40 Place Sea Lake R2 (Tote)
Northam Overview:
She’s a really interesting runner and is worth having something on. Brad Graham trains this mare, who hasn’t raced since her debut in october last year when wide no cover for the trip and fading out of the finish. Been given a good break and I loved her Lark Hill trial win. Not often the 4YO+ Maiden triallers run similar time to the rest, but she did and did it nicely. Unfashionable trainer/jock combo so likely gets closer to $20 come jump time and I think she’ll run a decent race.
Ballarat Synthetic
$100 Win Inner Demons R8 (Tote)
Ballarat Synthetic Overview:
I think the market gap between her and Really Swish is too great so $1.90 at the time of writing, I think you’ll get $2+. Admittedly, she beat nothing last time in her maiden triumph, but she still had to put them away and did it was absolute ease, winning by eight lengths and running good time. Don’t really see much pressure inside her so Nolen should get over comfortably and potentially get a head start on Really Swish, who usually sits worse than midfield.
