Warrnambool
$100 Win Romelo R7 @ $7 (Sportsbet)
Warrnambool Overview:
The track should remain in the genuine heavy range and with that being the case, Romelo looks a really good bet, especially at the odds. He’s a swimmer who will likely be over the jumps again in the not too distant future, but his last start flat run at Moe over the mile was a beauty, finding the line with real purpose late to run third. He saves his best for wet tracks, which he gets here, and he has had a tick over jumps trial to keep his mind on the job and he looked pretty good there. The fav Upswing is going okay for Patty Payne, but $2.50 seems really short for a horse who IMO has had his chance to win at his past two.
Sunshine Coast
$100 Win Kiriana R1 (Tote)
Sunshine Coast Overview:
Looks to be a bit of depth to this opening race, but all the upside is with the local mare Kiriana, who I have been a fan of since day one and I think she’s been excellent in two runs back from a spell. Really liked the way she found the line first up over the mile here before going to the 1666m at Ipswich when charging late to just miss out on picking up Casino Beach, who she meets at the weights 2.5kg better, plus with more upside, she turns the tables on that bloke, returns home, will eat up 1800m and wet track no issue. Great bet IMO.
