Evopex R5 Grafton
Kentucky Tornado R2 Bendigo
Made Evopex the best of the day but is short enough at around $1.80. Was on him at decent odds in the John Carlton and it was a sick watch. Just got held up for a couple of strides and that cost him when a narrow second to Malea Magic, who was far from disgraced in the Ramornie. Short enough but up to 1400m and fitter, he looks the winner. Kentucky Toronado looks a good thing in the second at Bendigo. Market has a race between the Waller pair of he and Would Be King. IMO, I can’t work out why Would Be King is nearly equal fav with Kentucky Tornado. Each made their Aussie debut over 1400m at Sandown behind Falls, with Kentucky Tornado clearly the better run. Both stepped out to the mile next time. Would Be King ran over the mile at Bendigo and looked to have his chance while Kentucky Tornado went to Moe where he got a long way back and worked home strongly. He gets the blinkers on first time and for mine looks the better horse.
$25 E/W Knock Knock R1 (Tote)
Like him in this race, but gee $5.50 is short enough. He trialled at Hamilton a few weeks ago and liked the way he went about his business, running second to Seven Castles, who bolted up at Ballarat to tick that form. Knock Knock was well held by that horse in the trial but he beat the rest convincingly. Hopefully can get to around the $6.50-$7 mark and if so, he’s the bet each way in what looks a very winnable maiden.
$15 Win/$35 Place Neekz R5 @ $13/$4 (Sportsbet)
Mount Gambier Overview: She’s an interesting runner on a tricky program and is definitely worth a speck at the odds because she doesn’t have to be anything decent to win this maiden. This is a daughter of Albrecht on debut for Jane Baker. Had a recent jumpout at Warrnambool where she led all the way and admittedly, beat nothing, but liked the way she went and when asked for an effort, she responded. 1400m on debut with Winkers on tells me there might be a bit of intent and at the odds, happy to find out if there’s anything good under the hood.
