There was some very good racing right across Australia this Saturday. Who got the pass marks? Find out down below:

Hawkesbury:
Race Six Number 3 Opinion (8th):
Thought this was a real hidden run. Might not read great on face value, but looking at the replay, he was very good late. Looks an ideal horse for a race like the Brisbane Cup and this was a very good first up effort.
Caulfield
Race Four Number 4 She’s Miss Devine (9th):
Just watch the replay.
Race Nine Number 16 Hard Call (1st) and 13 Trendsetter (5th):
Win of the day from Hard Call given he was three/four wide no cover throughout on a hot speed and was the only survivor of that brutality. He was enormous, while the real eye catcher was Trendsetter, who would have won in another couple of strides.
Doomben:
Race One Number 3 Maurus (1st):
Didn’t beat much, but he just spanked them and won with real authority. He won’t look out of place in a race like the Doomben Cup for mine given he just has so much upside.
Race Six Number 3 Artlee (3rd):
1400m Handicap at Eagle Farm anyone?
Race Seven Number 4 Eagle Way (8th) and 14 Tap This (9th):
Eagle Way got too far back in the run and was flat footed on the turn, but he picked up nicely and was strong through the line. As for Tap This…dear me. If she gets the split when she was going for it, she probably wins the race.
Race Eight Number 4 Harada Bay (6th):
I really hope Team Meagher don’t send this horse around the country, but he will win a second tier Stakes race this Carnival. This was an excellent return and he looks set for a winning prep.
Morphettville Parks
Race Six Number 10 Cobber (6th):
Should have finished second had he got clear at the right time, but was just badly held up on the turn when bolting in the run. Still a maiden, so if he got a maiden kill at the provincials, I’d happily take $1.01, but he is better than that and could pinch a race like this with better luck.
Race Seven Number 13 Zebulon (1st):
First up in 15 months…wow. This was just dominant and he really could have won by further had he run straight. Great training effort and if he improves off that, he’ll just about win whatever he contests.

Hawkesbury:
Race Two Number 2 Award Season (7th):
Has teased for a while now, but hasn’t delivered, and he has just simply run out of chances for me.
Race Eight Number 3 No More Tears (Last):
Had one handy placing at Randwick, but as a whole, her Aussie prep has been a disaster. Wait until she gets back to NZ, but for now, don’t back her down under.
Doomben:
Race Six Number 2 Famous Seamus (7th):
I think age might be catching up with this grand campaigner. He was very poor here and showed no fight or zest at all. Can’t see him threatening in the major sprints.
All Clear
Caulfield Race Five Number 4 Dissolute (6th) Craig Williams:
Williams, overall, was outstanding this afternoon, but he got the tactics badly wrong here on Dissolute, handing up the lead and then just getting into awful trouble when the horse appeared to have plenty to offer.
