A former kiwi making his Australian debut has been heavily backed to take out the feature race in Australia on Monday, the Moruya Cup (1650m).
The Brian Court trained galloper comes to Australia after formerly racing with Michael Pittman in New Zealand, where he last raced during NZ Cup week at Riccarton. He is first up without a trial, but the market support suggests he’s ready to go. He opened $2.80 and has been slapped, now into $2.40.
He completely dominates betting, with Goldmine next best at $5, but she is likely to race in the Cowra Cup on Sunday. Let It Roll for Nick Olive has had early admirers, into $6 from $6.50.
The two nibbles at $12 have been for Rock On Zariz and Akiko Gold, who are both now at $11.
