The Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington this Saturday looks a lottery on paper but a few punters believe there is value to be found.
That value lies with the Aaron Purcell trained Merchant Navy, who hasn’t raced since finishing down the track behind Trapeze Artist ($9-$10) in the Golden Rose. The colt has worked very well leading in and punters are on. He opened $21 and is now at $12, with some nice bets rolling in each way.
To tell you how open it is, as it stands now, it is $8 the field, headed by the unbeaten Godolphin colt Viridine ($8.50-$7.50-$8). He holds the call over Catchy ($7.50-$8.50) and Invincible Star ($7.50-$9.50-$8.50).
