The odds of Australia winning the 2014 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe continue to firm after the Aidan O’Brien trained galloper took out the Group 1 Juddmonte International.

The dual Derby winner shortened from $6 to $5 with online bookie Sportingbet.com.au and is now third favourite behind Sea The Moon and Taghrooda.
“Australia was nothing short of awesome in the Juddmonte and he’d be a lot shorter for the Arc if we knew he was definitely going there,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.
Connections are weighing up whether to head to Leopardstown instead but public support is growing for Australia to take on the tougher challenge in France.
“Australia would have no sort of test if he went to the Irish Champion Stakes, because he would scare away most of the opposition – we hope he goes for the Arc,” said Jon Ivan-Duke, a spokesperson for Sportingbet’s UK parent company William Hill.
Treve ($7) and Just A Way ($9) are the other two under double figures in Sportingbet’s market, while Juddmonte International runner-up The Grey Gatsby firmed from $21 to $15.
