After a strong fourth in last week’s Caulfield Guineas (1600m), Godolphin colt Kumaon is the favoured way to go with punters at Sportsbet.com.au to win the inaugural Caulfield Classic (2000m) on Saturday, opening at $3.80, easing out to $4.20, then firming back in to $4.

The best backed runner earlier on was the filly Fontein Ruby, a strong winner of the Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m). She opened at $10 and got down to as low as $7 before easing out to $8, while her stablemate Crafty has been $6 out to $6.50 then back in to her original quote.
Outside that trio, there really hasn’t been much action in terms of market movers, although Merion, who was great in the Guineas, has been $5.50 out to $6 before getting into as low as $5, then getting out to his original quote. Other than that, there has been either no support for any others or they have drifted out in betting.
Bachman has been rock solid at $6 while Magicool has eased to $7 from $6.50.
