The Sydney Autumn Carnival concludes at Randwick this Saturday, where the G1 All Aged Stakes run over 1400m will be the feature.
In what shapes to be a fascinating contest with a number of form lines coming together, we dropped in with Palmerbet CEO, Grant Palmer, to get his thoughts and latest betting insights on the race.
Which runner has attracted the most support early?
Off the back of his incredible win in the TJ Smith Stakes, punters have flocked early to favourite, Trapeze Artist. The three-year-old colt has already been $2.50-$2.20 with us, and it wouldn’t surprise to see him tighten up even further.
Who is your top selection in the All Aged Stakes?
It’s just impossible to tip any runner other than Trapeze Artist. It can be difficult for horses to back up a career peak at their next start, but the dominance of his TJ win cannot be ignored.
The 1400m holds no concerns being a resounding winner of the G1 Golden Rose at the same trip, and he should take a power of beating.
Where do you think the value lies in this one?
Fellow three-year-old, Showtime creates some interest on the quick back up from last week’s G2 Arrowfield Sprint. He met a hot field on that occasion and ran very admirably for second. The rise in distance suits him perfectly, and he can certainly be in the finish at around the $12 quote.
Which runner are you particularly keen to take on?
He was G1 winner over this distance on resumption, but Hartnell meets a much tougher field on this occasion. He seems to run his best races fresh nowadays, but being six weeks between runs from a sticky draw doesn’t seem like a winning formula to us against a field of this calibre. Happy to risk him at the current odds of $9.
