Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan has declared Black Caviar beatable in tomorrow’s BTC Cup and is preparing to take a huge stand against the unbeaten mare by offering $1.20 to punters until he gets $2,000,000 out of her.
Black Caviar had shortened to $1.16 after drawing favourably in barrier four but Sullivan said the money hadn’t been flowing in like in previous starts and he was determined to lay her.
“We have seen bets of $150,000 and $50,000 already but the total hold is well down on what we have seen on her starts in Sydney and Melbourne,†Sullivan said.
“Punters have been reluctant to take the $1.16 about her today so we are going $1.20 to make sure we get our fill out of her.
“As a bookie, it is our job to take these champions on and any punter who wants to back her can lock in $1.20 at Sportingbet now which is clearly the best price in the country.â€
Sullivan said he was confident punters would come for the champion mare now the $1.20 was on offer.
“So many of our punters have had a huge run backing her during her unbeaten streak and are well in front of us so I can’t see them dropping off in this race,†he said.
“Punters have more confidence in her than any other horse in recent times which is understandable given her run of wins and I think the $1.20 will attract them.â€
