$50 Win Prophet’s Thumb R4 @ $2.2 (Sportsbet)
$5 E/W Destiny’s Reward R5 @ $26/$6.5 (BetEasy)
$20 Cyber Intervention R7 @ $5 (BetEasy)
Warwick Farm Overview:
Rexx is one of the more fascinating runners on the program. Hasn’t raced for a long time, but he has had three trials for this prep and has looked better with each outing. Market will be the guide as to where he is at fitness wise but I am tipping he’s forward enough to win. Prophet’s Thumb got the kill out of the way first up. Loved the way she attacked the line when clear and won impressively. She can win on her home track for an in form stable. Destiny’s Reward comes through a strong Highway where he got back and worked home. Dry track a big tick for him and I was keen on Cyber Intervention on Saturday at Randwick, and he finds an easier race here, so $5/thereabouts seems a touch of overs.
Sandown
$50 Win Ronan’s Rock R2 (Tote)
$20 Win Hawkshot R3 @ $4 (Sportsbet)
$5 Win/$10 Place Welcome Stryker R4 @ $23/$5 (BetEasy)
$5 Win/$10 Place Etna R8 @ $35/$8.5 (Sportsbet)
Sandown Overview:
Ronan’s Rock looks the best of the day. Ran into Brutal on debut before racing here where he looked a good thing but had excuses post race to explain the poor run. Been spelled, and his two Flemington jumpouts have been very good to the eye. Just has to run to the debut effort to be taking care of these and going onto Saturday grade. If the inside is okay, then Hawkshot gets one last chance otherwise it’s never again. Disappointing first up down the Flemington straight, then seemed to jump at a shadow here last time when building momentum and looking the winner. Third up, hard fit now, no excuses. Think there are two at silly odds that are worth having something on. Welcome Stryker is flying and if he was in a provincial race, he’d be a moral. Loved what I’ve seen from him at his past couple off moderate tempos. He gets an each way ticket and so does Etna in the last. Former French galloper who had trialled up well for Aaron Purcell prior to making his Australian debut in the Woodford Cup where he was far from disgraced behind Guizot. The trials indicated he wants further, as did the first up run. He gets more ground, bigger track, the claim for Poy…he seems a ridiculous price in a thin race.
