Seymour
$20 Parlay 3,4 = $100 Cost
Head Noises R3 Win
Solar Cross R6 Place
Eaton R7 Place
Broos Boss R8 Place
Seymour Overview:
Not much of a betting afternoon, but I think this Parlay is worth a throw at the stumps. Did the form on Tuesday and made Head Noises the best of the day. $1.55 is short enough, so she’s the first leg. Should be winning off the back of some good efforts in much stronger races than this. The other three are place plays. Solar Cross resumes for Matt Cumani and while the fresh record says no, the recent jumpout was quite encouraging and looks silly odds at $20+. Eaton is going well for the Cerchi stable and appears overs in the seventh. Unlucky two back at Benalla before going to Sale where he was again a touch held but was out in time. Good late when clear. Clear air this time around and give in the track should be fine. Broos Boss is a stayer resuming for David Briedoake but looked sharp in a recent trial and blinkers go on for the resumption, telling me there’s intent.
Townsville
$35 Win/$65 Place Thai Boxing R2 @ $9/$3.25 (Bet365)
Townsville Overview:
Note that Bet365 was the only bookie with odds up at the time of writing. I just think Thai Boxing is silly odds at $9 in the last. Bill Kenning trains this gelding, who hasn’t raced for a few weeks since racing over this track/distance when back in the field and making ground but wanted to lay in when fourth to Lord Archer, beaten two lengths. Does get a 2.5kg weight swing on that horse here, and given he wanted to lay in last time, I like Ryan Wiggins booked given he’s a strong right hand whip rider. Speed map says no designated leader, which can mean a few go forward and inject some speed. If he can get three wide cover and the speed is genuine, I think he’ll close off strongly.
