It wouldn’t be a Spring carnival without the presence of Bart Cummings, and he, along with his son James, will saddle up the grand campaigner Precedence in the Racing.com Moonee Valley Cup (2500m), with the veteran chasing back-to-back wins, and the punters at Sportsbet.com.au seem to think that will be the case, with the nine-year-old firming to as low as $4.80 from $7, but has eased a touch to $5.
The favourite for the race is the Metropolitan runner up Opinion, who is pretty solid at the $3.40 mark, easing from $3.30. The form from the Metropolitan has stood up thanks to Junoob and Araldo running great last week in the Caulfield Cup (2400m), so his price could firm come race time, especially given he is going towards the Melbourne Cup (3200m).
Other than that pair, there hasn’t been a great deal of action, with the only firmer being Epingle, who has been $8 into $7.50. Au Revoir opened at $5, eased to $5.50, then firmed into his opening quote.
