Aloisia is the red hot VRC Oaks favourite
It appears as if only bad luck will beat Aloisia in the VRC Oaks (2500m) at Flemington and that is reflected in the market after her win in the Vase.
The Aaron Purcell trained filly was outstanding in winning the Thousand Guineas a fortnight back but she was even better, and more dominant, when winning the Drummond Golf Vase (2040m), beating the Derby favourite Cliff’s Edge by 3.5L and gapping the rest by a further six. She was $3 for the VRC Kennedy Oaks prior to the Vase but after her dominant win, she is into $1.70, and really, considering how easily she did it against the boys, like Jameka did a couple of years ago, that still seems value re multi anchoring.
Pinot was $4.50 second choice after her win in the Ethereal on Caulfield Cup Day but she has been wound out to $5 after what Aloisia did at Moonee Valley. Bring Me Roses hasn’t raced since the Edward Manifold but she does give the impression she’ll eat up the trip and is third pick in betting at $6.50.
Temple Of Bel is $13 but is 95% no chance of running, with trainer Archie Alexander all but confirming that the Wakeful this Saturday will be her final run before being tipped out.
The interesting one that could potentially firm is Luvaluva at $15. John Sargent trained filly who has only won a Goulburn maiden, but she has given the impression she will love the 2500m and is following an identical path to stablemate Kirramosa and what she did a few years ago with the mile run at Randwick before the Wakeful and backing up in the Oaks. She was $51 a month or so ago and a win in the Wakeful, or a decent performance, could see that $15 trim right up.
