There were some pretty performances at the Caulfield Jump Outs on Tuesday. Here is our horses to watch from the session:
Caulfield- Tuesday, February 3
Heat One- Secret Agenda (1st):
The Blue Diamond second favourite hasn’t been since blitzing her rivals on debut under the Moonee Valley lights in December, but she has looked very sharp in recent jump outs, but the way she went about it on Tuesday was outstanding. She sat behind the leader most of the way before Ollie peeled her out on the turn and lengthened powerfully under no real pressure. Looks a star and will take a power of beating first up in the Prelude.
Heat Two- Stylish Assassin (1st) and Fontiton (2nd):
Stylish Assassin made her debut back in the Debutant Stakes (1000m) and was well back when tenth to Of The Brave, but she looked pretty slick in this jump out, leading all the way to win under Ollie and narrowly held of star juvenile Fontiton, who worked home very strongly near the inside under a good hold from the rider. She clearly went better than Stylish Assassin, but in saying that, she did work well also. Fontiton is clearly the one to beat in the Blue Diamond, and I’ll keep an eye on Stylish Assassin.
Heat Five- Vain Queen (3rd):
The last start Mumm Stakes winner looked very impressive in a star studded barrier trial, with Lankan Rupee winning, but I thought this mare went just as well, if not a touch better. She sat on speed most of the way before letting the star sprinter go along with Davaluri (accepted for Tatura Monday), and she went to the line very nicely for third. Would love to see her have a crack at the Oakleigh Plate first up, a fast run sprint race and sit her off the speed looks ideal. Keen to see her this Autumn.
Heat Six- Nordic Empire (1st):
Well performed colt who matched with some above average types during the Spring, with the highlight being a close second to Chivalry in the McNeil. He was spelled after finishing midfield in the Danehill to Rich Enuff, but he looks ready to rumble for the Autumn after a dominant jump out win here, showing good early speed and winning by a space under no real pressure. Not sure he is Group l material, but a definite Stakes contender.
Heat Eight- Berlutti (1st):
Berlutti, like stablemate Nordic Empire, hasn’t been seen since finishing midfield in the Danehill but looks to have come back in great order judging by his jump out win here, showing good speed throughout and winning under a good hold, yet ran one of the quickest times for the morning. Look for him to perhaps kick off his prep in the midweeks and gradually progress.
Heat Nine- Bottle Of Smoke (1st):
Bottle Of Smoke is a three year old filly for Mick Price who has only had one start, back in September when winning at Echuca. Looks to have come back in excellent condition after a very slick performance on the polytrack, leading all the way to win under a really good hold from Ollie. It’ll be interesting to see where she goes.
Heat Eleven- A Million Tears (2nd):
This beautifully bred daughter of Street Cry took a while to break her maiden, but she eventually got the job done at the end of the Spring. She has since been spelled and appears to be in for a great Autumn after an impressive jump out here, settling near last in the run before peeling to the outside fence on the turn and really powering to the post under no pressure at all. Could be an ideal Adelaide Oaks horse with natural progression.
