Randwick- Friday May 8, Weather Fine, Track Soft7.
Heat Two- Hard To Hold (2nd):
Handy Bjorn Baker mare that hasn’t raced since February, but looks on track for a strong prep after a really pleasing trial here where she ran second to Generalife, sitting behind the winner most of the way and going to the line under a good hold. Very impressive trial and one of the best of the morning.
Heat Five- Knotted (5th):
First public appearance from this son of Street Cry for Godolphin, and he looked to have a good action on him. He wasn’t knocked about by Tommy Berry and looked to travel well when running fifth. Nice trial and is sure to be winning races.
Heat Seven- Delectation (4th):
Most eyes were on Royal Ascot bound Wandjina in this trial, but my eyes were glued to Delectation, who just bolted in the run and looked awesome in running fourth under a big grip from Glyn Schofield. I don’t know what Waller has done with him, but this horse has turned the corner and is sure to be competitive in whatever he contests.
Heat Eleven- Dark Steel (1st):
Unraced Gai Waterhouse youngster that trialled in September last year. Given a spell, is back now and looks to have strengthened and matured given he looked pretty impressive in this particular trial, where he sat midfield early on before peeling wide on the turn and letting down powerfully under no pressure, going on to win comfortably.
