Cranbourne- Monday, April 27, Weather Overcast, Track Soft7.
Heat One- Our Ivanhowe (3rd):
The prized international for the Freedmans who hasn’t raced since the Japan Cup when sixth. He jumped okay in this trial, settling off the speed. Ollie then peeled him wide on the turn and despite wanting to lay in terribly, he let down pretty strongly under no real pressure. He was very impressive.
Heat Three- Kuhreihen (1st):
Former Darley galloper who has had a few preps under the care of local trainers Allan & Jason Williams. Looks on target for a winning prep after an outstanding trial win here, where he travelled off the speed before getting a gap about 250m from home and darting through under a big hold from Steve Arnold, going on to win the trial by 3/4. Best of the morning by a big gap.
Heat Six- By The Pound (7th):
Interesting two year old for Patrick Payne. This gelding jumped okay and settled out the back. He was looking to wind up in the straight, and though in restricted room, he did hit the line with purpose. Keep an eye on him for the future.
Heat Eleven- Husson Eagle (4th):
Last start Caulfield winner who looked very impressive in this trial, sitting just off the speed before getting to the outside fence. He was under a really good hold from Steve Arnold and just coasted to the line for fourth. He’ll go close to winning whenever he races next.
Heat Thirteen- Double Banger (1st):
Handy filly for Barry Fox who hasn’t raced since November, but looks on track for a winning campaign after an impressive trial win here. She settled out the back before cutting the corner and sticking to the inside, which wasn’t the place to be, but she handled the soft ground beautifully and though the margin was short, the win was excellent.
