The weather hasn’t been kind to Cranbourne in recent times, but there was still some pretty decent efforts at the Cranbourne trials on Monday. Find out down below who caught our eye the most.

Cranbourne- Monday May 11, Weather Overcast, Track Heavy8.
Heat Two- Demonstrate (1st):
Smart gelding for Godolphin that looked outstanding in a recent jump out at Flemington, and he looked strong in this trial win also. He sat off them early before peeling out on the turn, and despite wanting to lay in, he hit the line with real purpose and was very impressive.
Heat Three- By The Pound (2nd):
Unraced gelding for Patty Payne that caught my eye at the last set of Cranbourne Trials, and he looked even better here. He jumped much better this time and led. He was niggled pretty much all the way down the straight, but he responded well and comfortably held down second.
Heat Four- Safariann (2nd):
Unraced filly for Colin Little that was making her first public appearance here, and gee she looked impressive. She sat outside the leader all the way, but looked to travel under a really good hold from Luke Nolen and wasn’t let go at any stage. Best of the morning here by a fair way IMO.
Heat Six- Wonder Kid (1st):
Beautifully bred son of Lonhro out of Valkyre Diva, the close relation to the great Makybe Diva, and while he won’t reach the heights of his famous aunt, he has his fair share of ability judging by this excellent first public appearance, where he settled off speed before jockey Mark Zahra peeled the gelding out and the three year old responded beautifully, taking the lead 200m out and winning under a big grip. Equal best with Safariann.
