There were some nice performances at the Sandown jump outs on Tuesday. Who caught our eye the most? Find out down below.
Sandown- Tuesday, March 17: Weather Fine, Track Good 4.
Heat Three- Change Sister (3rd):
Unraced two year old filly for Peter Moody who looked pretty good here. She jumped well from the gates to sit on speed, travelled strongly in the run, was headed off with about 100m to go but was under a good hold and ran third. Looks to be a smart type who will be winning races.
Heat Four- Hard Romp (5th):
Talented gelding that hasn’t raced since September behind Taddei Tondo, a Stakes performed mare and a multiple city winner. In this jump out he jumped okay, settling in the first couple before being headed off a furlong from home, but wasn’t pushed out by the rider and coasted to the line in running fifth. He does fly fresh, so I’ll be keen to back him.
Heat Five- Usain Dane (1st):
Colt for Peter Moody that debuted with a win in Moe in November. He got away nicely in this jump out, sitting on speed most of the way and did appear to travel sweetly, going on to run second under a good hold from the rider. Will be winning races this prep.
Heat Six- Holy Fire (4th):
Was a late scratching on Friday night at Cranbourne behind the barriers, so Henry Dwyer sent him to the jump outs here. He jumped just fairly and was out the back. He was placed under pressure about 300m out and worked home very strongly to dive between runners and run fourth. He is nominated for Sandown this Wednesday and will be hard to beat.
