Race One (12:22pm) : XXXX Gold Pale Ale Handicap (0MW) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Lucky Lucre (Best Odds: $5.50) for me here. He resumed on his home track in the Murwillumbah Newmarket and worked home strongly late before coming here and working home late behind Feltre, who bolted up last week and is a leading chance later in the day. Third up now, draws well…looks the one.
Big Danger: Big Decision (Best Odds: $6.50) can be a real nightmare to follow, and his record justifies that statement, but he stuck to the task pretty gamely late I thought at Doomben when fourth to Headwater Country. Draws wide here, so I suspect he will be eased back and be saved for the straight.
Roughie: Unbowed (Best Odds: $9.00) took an eternity to break his maiden, but he did it on this track recently, and since then, he has strung together some really good efforts, including a spank job of his rivals at this track last time out. He won’t be far off the speed and is carrying next to no weight after the claim.

Race Two (12:57pm) : Access Inulation Handicap 1200m: Form Guide
Back Me: Dram Of Red (Best Odds: $2.50) resumed a couple of weeks back at Doomben and proved much too good for his rivals in what looked to be a pretty strong race. This looks strong also, but he is fitter and I think the bigger track will suit him better.
Big Danger: Graceville (Best Odds: $7.00) was disappointing when resuming at Doomben, but she dropped back to maiden company and ran over 1000m here where she pinged from the gates and gave her rivals no look in as she bolted up. Harder here, but she has tremendous early speed and this is her home track.
Roughie: Monaco Playboy (Best Odds: $17.00) proved too good for its rivals when resuming at this track before going to the Dram Of Red race and racing wide throughout, so his effort wasn’t too bad. He draws better here, and should get a lovely sit off a likely hot tempo.

Race Three (1:37pm) : Yalumba Handicap (80) 1200m: Form Guide
Back Me: Looks a lovely race for Glenbawn Dame (Best Odds: $2.70) now with the scratching of Satirical Lass. Luke Dittman gave her every possible hope over 1000m here three weeks back, but she simply couldn’t reel in the leader, Iona Fast One, beaten 1.3L. She was coming again late, so I think up to 1200m should suit, Dittman sticks, and as I said, it looks a race between Satirical Lass and herself.
Big Danger: Nicked And Court (Best Odds: $6.00) ran over 1000m here when resuming and I thought the daughter of Court Command stuck to the task pretty gamely when second to Highly Geared, beaten 1.3L. Form out of that race is strong with the third placegetter winning during the week, plus this mare is a two time second up winner in the past.
Roughie: If the speed is hot, then the mare that will be steaming home late is Ellawisdom (Best Odds: $9.00), who did exactly that over 1400m here three weeks ago when charging home from near last to grab victory in the final few strides. 1200m is short of her best, but as stated earlier, the speed will be good and she will be strong late.

Race Four (2:12pm) : Go Transit Media Group Handicap 1600m: Form Guide
Back Me: Wide open affair here. The horse that appears to be good overs is Yeager (Best Odds: $21.00). He was caught wide no cover first up at Doomben, then went to Ipswich over 1350m and was warming up late in the piece when running seventh, beaten just over three lengths by No Magic Needed. Tumbles down in weight now and he will appreciate the bigger track and step up to the mile.
Big Danger: Spur Le Jouer (Best Odds: $12.00) is on the quick back up after racing over 1400m here last Sunday, and he unleashed a powerful finishing burst from the back to grab victory in the last couple of strides. He hasn’t missed a place in six runs on his home track here, and is drawn very nicely here with the scratchings. Definite chance.
Roughie: Old Smokey (Best Odds: $12.00) ran here two weeks back over this distance and despite being an alarming drifter in betting, the son of Natural Destiny proved far too good for his rivals in what looked a pretty thin race. Runner up ran well on Friday at Ipswich to frank the form, and despite this race being a touch harder, he can certainly win, plus Pengelly sticks.

Race Five (2:52pm) : Spire Law Handicap 1600m: Form Guide
Back Me: Seeking More (Best Odds: $2.50) for me here. He has really found a purple patch in recent times, winning his past two starts impressively, though I will say he has had the perfect run at both outings. He has a very good record at the track, and I think back to 1000m from 1050m will definitely be an advantage. The one to beat for mine.
Big Danger: Rocky King (Best Odds: $5.00) is a speedy customer who ran fourth to Seeking More last time out after doing some work out wide with no cover. He ran third prior behind the same mare after copping severe pressure on speed. He has a lethal strike rate on his home track and should ping to the front and give them something to chase.
Roughie: The query runner here is Love Rocks (Best Odds: $5.50). He is clearly the best horse in the race, but he hasn’t raced since late November when running near last behind Time To Plunder in the Keith Noud at Doomben. Resumes without a trial, but he has a very good first up record, runs well at the track and he loves 1000m.

Race Six (3:32pm) : Pryde’s Easifeed Handicap 1800m: Form Guide
Back Me: Gee this is a nightmare race to sort out. With no confidence, I’ll go with Darci Be Good (Best Odds: $3.20), who drops significantly in grade after contesting the Grafton Cup last time out where he wasn’t far off them in the end, finishing seventh, just over two lengths from Bonfire. Bit surprised he hasn’t opened up favourite here, but he is coming back to 1800m from 2350m, he draws wide and he has been up for a long time. They are the negatives, but he just has class on these.
Big Danger: Tracey’s Angel (Best Odds: $3.80) is on the back up after racing last Saturday at Doomben where the daughter of Classic De Lago ran fifth to the in form Feltre. Tracey’s Angel just did too much work to find the lead. If she can get a soft time in front here, she will take some catching, because up to 1800m will be ideal.
Roughie: There was good specking for Hot Saga (Best Odds: $3.50) last time out over this track/distance, and he just cruised away to spank his rivals with contempt and winning with ridiculous ease. Fair leap in class and depth here, but the win was impressive and he has had the extra week off compared to the two horses mentioned above.

Race Seven (4:12pm) : 7 Local News SCTC 30th Anniversary Cup 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Riva De Lago (Best Odds: $11.00) for me here. This horse has been a revelation since joining the Robert Heathcoate yard, with the highlight being a dominant win in the Glasshouse here. He ran well last time out at Doomben, running Cum Dividend to a length. Draws gate one now, and he is a recent stakes winner at the track/distance.
Big Danger: Territory (Best Odds: $34.00) drops back to open handicap level after contesting the Ramornie last start, and he was alright there I thought when eighth to Rock Royalty in a track record gallop. Territory sat near last in the run and did make ground late so up to 1400m will suit, draws better, senior rider up and will appreciate the bigger track.
Roughie: The old boy Steel Zip (Best Odds: $9.50) is racing as well as ever at the moment. He worked home very strongly two back in the Rockhampton Newmarket before going to Doomben a couple of weeks back and was a touch unlucky not to win when third to Cum Dividend given he was forced to make ground near the inside, and on that particular meeting, the inside was quicksand. His run at this track first up was a beauty, and he will be running on hard late.

Race Eight (4:47pm) : Sea Vista Developments Handicap (80) 1200m: Form Guide
Back Me: Beau Jet (Best Odds: $3.50) for me in the last. He ran over 1000m here three weeks back in a three year old race and worked home very strongly between runners late when third to Another Whiskey, plus he lost a plate in the run, so that adds a bit more merit to the performance. The negative is that he is zero from two efforts at 1200m, but admittedly they have been in far tougher events than what he faces here. Gate one, Bell on, weight relief and he should be strong at the end.
Big Danger: Well you know what you are going to get with Iona Fast One (Best Odds: $9.00). He will just scoot along in front and give them something to chase. Those tactics worked for him last time out over 1000m here when proving too good for his rivals. Harder here and he is up to 1200m, so that’s the query, but he will give you a bold sight and a great run for your money.
Roughie: Mr Jetset (Best Odds: $4.60) is right in contention now that he has gained a start. He ran well first up before making up good ground late when fourth to Headwater Country last start. Draws beautifully here, so he can sit where ever he so desires, he loves the 1200m and he has a tidy record at the track.
