Hawkesbury Race Four: Number Five Popnae
Looks a really good bet I think. Ran a solid race first up before sticking on well at Goulburn then finishing fifth in a city race. Drops in class today and he only goes up a kilo in weight which won’t be an issue. Smallish size field so expect the horse to be near the speed here and from an ideal barrier, Hugh Bowman should give it the perfect run. This horse has always shown ability, today is his chance to convert that ability into another win.
Hawkesbury Race Seven: Number Nine Debut
Been a bit frustrating to follow this time in but she won’t get a better chance to breakthrough here. Sat on the speed and fought on hard last start when finishing a narrow second to Cymbal. Again, she is a horse that has given us a glimpse of above average ability but hasn’t gone on with it. Pumper is on top today which will be a huge plus as he is riding in top form. Looks the best bet on the program.
Ballarat Race Three: Number Six Mueller
The Dale Sutton camp is on fire at the moment and I think they have a sneaky value hope in Mueller. First starter by Fastnet Rock out of an unraced mare who has had four foals so far to race and three of them have won. He looked solid in a recent trial, even though he finished sixth, but he wasn’t asked to do much. Has the inside barrier here and that is a big advantage at the 1000m start at Ballarat. The raced horses have question marks for me and I think this one is a solid e/w bet.
