Luke Nolen has been suspended for 20 meetings following an inquiry into Noel Callow’s fall at Sandown last Wednesday.
Nolen was found guilty of a careless riding charge after stewards alleged Nolen allowed his mount, Johanski, to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Golden Portrait.
The shift caused Golden Portrait to clip the heels on Johanski, unseating Callow who was lucky to escape serious injury in the incident, the inquiry being adjourned until Monday to allow Callow to give evidence.
Nolen was suspended from midnight on Sunday, September 27 until midnight on October 16; the stewards taking into account Nolen’s recent good record as well as the feature meetings the rider would miss in the three-week period.
El Segundo’s trainer Colin Little will have to find a new rider for the gelding in Saturday’s Group I Turnbull Stakes.
Nolen will miss the ride on the Anthony Cummings-trained Duporth in the Group III Baguette Stakes and he will be sidelined for the Caulfield Guineas and Thousand Guineas meetings.
